OUTGOING EMAIL HELP WITH SMTP
There is one question that many of our customers come to us with and that is:
"I have setup my mailboxes using Outlook, I can receive mail fine, but for whatever reason my mail stays in the Outbox and just does not send. Can you help me please?"
This page is therefore designed to answer this question for you, so it can save you having to contact us if you are reading this and have the same problem.
Many Internet Service Providers (ISP's) block access to port 25, which is the default port used by SMTP services. This is because you are not using their outgoing email server, but indeed your own, such as mail.yourdomain.com.
There is a simple fix to this issue - if you load your Email Account Settings in Outlook and select the appropriate email account, you should have a screen which shows you all the login settings to retireve and send mail. In the bottom right hand corner of this screen, there should be an option entitled 'More Settings...'. When you click on this, it will bring up a separate dialog box. There should be various Tabs across the top of this box and the one which you want to select is entitled 'Advanced'. On this page you will see, most probably a textbox which has the number '25' in the port number box for the SMTP outgoing emails. If you change this value to '587' and click the 'OK' button and close all the other dialog windows, this should work. If you try sending an email now, you should find that it goes through with no problems at all.
Some providers you will find, block access to all ports if the outgoing server is not running through them. You should therefore try and contact them to ask for the details of this, so that you can use this as a way around the problem.
If you have tried this fix but are still encountering difficulties sending out emails, please do feel free to contact us.

Internet Service Providers (ISP's) should provide you with access to an outgoing email server (typically SMTP) for you to use for sending out your emails.
